In characteristically over-the-top, Israel-obsessed fashion, Columbia University professor Hamid Dabashi weighs in on the Duke-UNC Consortium for Middle East Studies/Dept. of Education controversy (or non-controversy, as it turns out the DoE did provide Title VI '19-20 funding; see CW's latest for more info) by labeling Betsy DeVos, Ken Marcus, and the entire US government under President Trump "Evangelical Zionists," a "platoon of Zionists," "fanatical stormtroopers," "Zionist paratroopers and Hasbara-apparatchik[s]," and for good measure, an "Israeli Fifth Column." And to think, the DoE's letter to the Consortium never once mentioned Israel.
