Holocaust scholar who became victim of anti-Semitism to ring in Chanukah at Columbia University

The Columbia Teachers College professor whose office was defiled with swastikas will defiantly stand against anti-Semitism this weekend when she lights the university’s Chanukah menorah, school officials said Friday.

Professor Elizabeth Midlarsky will ring in the Jewish holiday on Sunday in front of Columbia University’s Low Memorial Library, officials said.

Midlarsky, a Holocaust scholar, found the hate symbols and the word “YID” in red spray paint scrawled on the walls outside her office on the Ivy League campus about 1 p.m. on Wednesday

“It’s very upsetting. It makes me feel very vulnerable,” Midlarsky said at the time.

Members of the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force were looking for the vandal Friday....
