Hamid Dabashi Proves Bollinger Wrong!

Updated: May 26, 2020

On March 6, Columbia University President Lee C. Bollinger delivered a statement before the Senate Plenary condemning antisemtism at Columbia. "I plead with everyone on our campus to be careful and vigilant against legitimate debate turning into anger, then to hatred and demonization, and invidious discrimination," said President Bollinger.

"I plead with everyone on our campus to be careful and vigilant against legitimate debate turning into anger, then to hatred and demonization, and invidious discrimination"

Unfortunately, it appears that some members of his own faculty have not been listening. On April 8th, Professor Hamid Dabashi, a vituperative critic of "Zionists" and a coddled Columbia antisemite with a tenure published a rant about Bernie Sanders quitting the presidential race. This event, seemingly unrelated to Israel, nevertheless provoked Dabashi into another conspiratorial diatribe against Kushner and other vile "Zionists" that have taken the Trump administration hostage to serve Bib and advance their nefarious plans against Palestinians.

"With respect to anti-Semitism, there are now assertions by outsiders that Columbia is an 'anti-Semitic' institution with systemic bigotry."

Despite Bollinger's assertion that "With respect to anti-Semitism, there are now assertions by outsiders that Columbia is an 'anti-Semitic' institution with systemic bigotry" Hamid Dabashi has proven him wrong. Such angry, antisemitic and Zionophobic statements by Dabashi and numerous other members of Columbia faculty are not unusual on Columbia's campus.

President Bollinger should follow up his words with action. Unless the "educators" who demonize Jews, Israel and Zionists are named, condemned and disciplined, Bollinger's speech is nothing but empty words. Pleading to be vigilant against hatred and demonization is not enough if no actions are taken against those who promote a hostile climate of Jew hatred on campus.

April 18, 2020 Update

Shortly after your blog was published Dabashi's Facebook page was taken down. A coincidence?
